The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded nearly $2.2 million to eight educational and research institutions to preserve and share the history and stories of veterans buried in national and VA-funded cemeteries. Awarded through the Veterans Legacy Program, recipients include National History Day, the U.S. Korea Global Strategy Foundation, and universities (Alaska Anchorage, Montclair State, Texas State, Central Missouri, and Denver) as well as the Umoⁿhoⁿ Nation Public School Omaha Tribe of Nebraska. The grants will support student- and educator-led historical research, curriculum development, digital biographies, memorials, and community engagement projects.
