U.S., Tanzania launch five-year $3.1B partnership for health system expansion and resilience

The Trump administration has announced a five-year, $3.1 billion collaboration with the government of the United Republic of Tanzania to strengthen the East African nation’s health system, prevent infectious diseases, and improve resilience and health security. The initiative combines more than $1.8 billion from Tanzania and a $1.3 billion commitment from the United States. The partnership will expand disease surveillance, digital health infrastructure, laboratory networks, and workforce development while supporting malaria elimination in Tanzania’s Zanzibar archipelago.
