Gilead $3M backs preservation of San Francisco’s AIDS Memorial Grove and memorial quilt 

Gilead Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the San Francisco Bay Area biopharmaceutical company long associated with HIV treatment and prevention, has awarded a three-year, $3 million grant to preserve the National AIDS Memorial Grove and the AIDS Memorial Quilt and to expand the nonprofit’s education, prevention, and leadership programs. The funds will back Pedro Zamora scholarship initiatives and volunteer-led restoration work in Golden Gate Park, reinforcing community engagement alongside long-term HIV/AIDS remembrance and education, reinforcing the legacy of the community-driven response to the AIDS crisis. In addition the award will support high-resolution digitization of thousands of quilt panels and archival materials, strengthening public access and historical preservation efforts.
