Cooperman family awards $10M to Birthright Israel to expand trips and engagement for young Jewish adults

Leon and Toby Cooperman Family Foundation has committed $10 million to Birthright Israel to sustain and expand its free Israel trip program for young Jewish adults. The award aims to  reinforce Jewish identity and continuity through immersive educational travel experiences while strengthening access and reducing waitlists. The donation, alongside an additional $2.7 million from other donors, reflects a broader effort to stabilize funding as Birthright adapts to growing demand amid shifting donor support. The Cooperman award underscores a multigenerational family strategy focused on ensuring long-term participation in programs viewed as foundational to Jewish engagement and future leadership.
