Moran Foundation awards $2M to expand housing for domestic violence survivors in Broward County

The Jim Moran Foundation has announced a $2 million grant to Women In Distress of Broward County (Florida), to support the development of transitional housing for domestic violence survivors. The award–part of the foundation’s 25th-anniversary $27 million grantmaking surge–contributes to WID’s $15 million Building a Safer Tomorrow campaign. The funding will help create apartment-style housing where survivors can live for up to two years, while receiving therapy, advocacy, and tapered rent subsidies while working toward financial independence. The project expands capacity beyond the current 90-day shelter model, aiming to improve long-term stability and recovery outcomes.
